OVERCOME ANXIETY, PANIC, STRESS & WORRY

Are you experiencing anxiety, panic, stress, fear or worry? The combination of Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy helps you confront your fears and alleviate the power they have over you.

We can grasp fears with our minds, but anxiety grips us from within. Anxiety is not a condition - it's a symptom. The brain is signalling that something is not right. Don't allow yourself to enter victim mode.

Fear is a bully and if you face it, it backs down.

THE EFFECTS OF STRESS ARE OFTEN IGNORED

OVERCOME ANXIETY, PANIC, STRESS & WORRY

Our mind and body have a enormous capacity to adapt. The effects of stress are insidious and people often fail to notice them and tend to accept stress as their normal state of mind, an inevitable part of life. The greater the pressures around them, the harder they drive ourselves to meet these growing demands. From the moment they wake up each morning until last thing at night, their muddled, confused thoughts can be likened to the brain working on overdrive.

They feel helpless and uncertain, as though they have no control over their lives, maybe trying to be what others want them to be, denying their own needs in favour of others, by feelings of inadequacy and failure to live up to other's expectations. Stress distorts their perception. They don't even try to achieve a better balance because they are unable to identify their own stress levels. They push on, way beyond their natural capabilities.

ABOUT WORRYING

When your worries dominate, worry becomes a problem of its own. Worrying never changed the outcome of anything. Thinking about all the things that could go wrong doesn't make life any more predictable. You may feel safer when you're worrying, but it's just an illusion. Unrelenting doubts and fears can paralyse, and are neither motivating nor productive. These fears sap your emotional energy, send your anxiety levels soaring, and interfere with your day-to-day life. Focusing on worst-case scenarios won't keep bad things from happening. It will only keep you from enjoying the good things you have in the present.

CREATING POSITIVE CHANGES

Unhealthy thoughts and behaviours and continually reinforcing positive ones. Your own thoughts - not other peoples' or situations - determine how you behave. Even if an unwanted situation doesn't change, you can change the way you think and behave in a positive way.

Your negative feelings come not from an accurate assessment of the situation but from your negative emotions. If you understand when this is happening you can start to check the way you are feeling against the facts and improve your mood.

SHOULDS AND OUGHTS

'Shoulds' and 'oughts' can create a great deal of guilt and anger, particularly when they are directed against yourself - 'I should do this, I ought not to do that..' When used like this to try and motivate, such statements often have the reverse effect.

These mechanisms are all the more powerful because they operate at the unconscious level. We very rarely realise what's going on. When you leave a task unfinished you feel guilty or inadequate. This makes is actually less likely you will do whatever you thought you 'should' be doing. Take things one at a time.

SELF MOTIVATION

This is a one day at a time process and leads to inner stability. It comes from self-confidence, self appreciation and self-esteem. Part of building self-esteem involves learning how to make the best out of worst situations. Self motivation is a process of self improvement and it leads to an improved and better YOU. Set yourself meaningful, realistic and achievable goals.

TRUE AUTHORITY

You and only you are the true authority of yourself. No other person or thing has the ability or power to make you doubt yourself and make you accept anything less than exactly what is right for you. From now on, every morning when you get out of bed, stand in front of a full length mirror and look yourself straight in the eye and say 'I am my own authority - I choose what is right for me. I have my own definition of what success in life means.'

The important thing here is for you to accept complete responsibility for your choices, decisions and path direction. You have all the power, all the resources and all the opportunities to realize what it is you really want to do in this life.
