I’m delighted you have found this page because I can introduce you to my new revised website for 2019.
I saw a lot of people last year who came with a variety of issues. I’ve been practising hypnotherapy and psychotherapy for over twenty years, I’m constantly amazed and inspired by people’s capacity to open up so candidly about themselves.
This website is shorter and sharper than others I’ve written but its mobile friendly which is important, because life runs at a pretty fast rate today and information needs to be accessible easily and quickly.
We don’t always notice the changes going on around us because we are living them as they happen, but an awful lot in our lives has changed over the last few years.
Just look at the differences.
We have probably had different childhoods compared to our parents, and thanks to technology, gone into jobs that once didn’t exist. Our lifestyles have changed dramatically and we expect to have social lives and leisure time, with holidays, hobbies and sports. All that, plus the inescapable impact of television.
We have different expectations from relationships and we can choose the way we define ourselves. Our priorities are different and we are free to decide what we like and what we discard. We no longer remain in miserable relationships for life because of the stigma of divorce. We can protest at injustices. We have employment rights.
Even our emotions have certain rights and we know we can assert ourselves if others treat us badly. Yet it would seem that people still suffer chronic anxiety, experience desperate unhappiness and struggle to relate to others, injustices still take place and confidence and self esteem is often just a veneer.
The main difference today is no matter how despairing or desperate, we know we can be helped. We know it’s OK to talk about problems, not bottle them up. We also know it’s important to be kinder to ourselves, to acknowledge our own achievements and develop a sense of value. Best of all, we can write our own rules, create our own philosophy for living. We know we can choose our life instead of life choosing us.
Freud identified the existence of the unconscious mind which kickstarted a sequence of healing processes, one of which was hypnosis. Before Freud, the only treatment for emotional and mental problems was confinement.
Today I confidently use hypnotherapy and I have seen some spectacular results. No magic wand, just working together with clients to achieve an improved quality of life, whether it’s to lose weight or give up cigarettes, or cope with anxiety and panic, whatever the issue, there’s a good chance that hypnotherapy will get you there.
